Hans Peter Michaelsen is an independent defence analyst with 41 years of experience from military service in the Royal Danish Air Force and in the Danish Defence. From 2016 to 2019 he was a military analyst at the Centre for Military Studies at the University of Copenhagen.  In January 2020 he established his own consultancy and he regularly participates in public debate about Danish security and defence.
