INNOSWAMP

Beskrivelse:

INNOSWAMP - Innovative and Streamlined Water Prefiltration System for Military Personnel

INNOSWAMP is a European research and innovation project funded under the European Defence Fund. The project aims to develop an innovative and modular water pre-filtration system that provides reliable access to clean water for military personnel operating in challenging environments. Military operations often take place in areas where water sources are limited, contaminated, or difficult to treat with existing technologies. Current purification solutions frequently rely on reverse osmosis systems, which can be energy intensive, waste significant amounts of water, and require complex maintenance.

The Technology
To address these challenges, INNOSWAMP is developing a new generation of pre-filtration technology capable of efficiently removing a wide range of physical, chemical, and biological contaminants before the final purification stage. The system combines advanced materials, additive manufacturing, and computational modelling to create robust, adaptable, and reusable filtration components. A key element of the project is the use of innovative materials such as graphene oxide and functional coatings integrated into polymer, ceramic, and metal filters to improve filtration performance and durability.

Project Objectives
The project will develop and test a modular filtration concept that can adapt to different water sources and contamination profiles while improving filtration efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and increasing system reliability. By enhancing the pre-filtration stage, the solution can also extend the lifetime and efficiency of downstream purification technologies used in military operations. The 36-month project brings together European research institutions, universities, SMEs, and industry organisations to advance water purification technologies for defence applications.

CenSec’s Role
Within the project, CenSec is responsible for communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities. Through its strong network within the defence, space, and security sectors, CenSec helps ensure that project results reach relevant stakeholders across the European defence ecosystem. By promoting knowledge sharing and strengthening cross-border collaboration, CenSec contributes to increasing the visibility, impact, and future uptake of the technologies developed in INNOSWAMP.
